For once I thought that female reporters were doing a great job.For once i thought she had put up a mark as a journalist. There was a time where i thought she has created a new line for Indian females apart from the regular doctor, engineer paradigm. Unfortunately, I have been proved wrong by none other than the 'lady' herself! I was shocked to see criticism on a mere blog to be taken so seriously by NDTV.

The recent controversy about Ms Dutt where in she forced a blogger to remove his blog that criticized her coverage of 26/11 in Mumbai seems to be against the freedom of speech. If the blog would have remained i believe not more than 100 ppl would have read it. However, the drama over this issue has not only made it a controversy but has also brought it sharp criticism for NDTV. Also, it has heightened the need for TV censorship and for the first time its shown the 'over powering' nature of the media.

Freedom of speech is the freedom to speak freely without censorship or limitation. The right to freedom of speech is recognized as a human right under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and recognized in international human rights law in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR). Apart from the above the Indian Constitution guarantees freedom of speech to every citizen.

There have been times where this freedom had been curbed eg, during the emergency. However, it was criticized by the very press for they were unable to express their views openly. Unfortunately, today the media or the press have become some kind of a monster where its garbage in and garbage out. It has turned to nothing but constantly running noise.The news channel have stooped so low and are so jobless that they show every crap. I seriously do not want to know this: Raju owned 321 shoes, 310 belts, 1000 suits

There was a short story on how Priety Zinta's party was 'noisy' and how the cops came but she did not pay any heed to them. However, though the media criticized her for her not following the order she has come out with the truth. This is another example where in the media victimizes the people. Luckily this is a film star and so she has expressed her side of the story however, if a common man is victimized where is he to go? The media declares some people as 'demons' while others as 'devta' and I believe both the parties suffer.

26/11 was not handled well both by the media and by the Indian armed forces. It was the first event of its kind and hopefully the last. The continuous 'LIVE' telecast and interviews of the victims was not what everyone wants to see. Yes, it is good to give the latest news but there needs to be so kind of censorship on what is shown or spoken. The situation becomes more delicate in situations like 26/11 which need to be handled with care.

Its high time the newz media is brought into control before the media declares itself as 'the source of truth' ;)
