Blink

"First impression is the best impression" was what I had heard from my childhood. So it was the first few seconds/minutes in an interview, in a show, with a person that makes it 'great' or 'bad'.

The book Blink goes further and the author tries to analyze the brain on how it can analyze and how long does it take for us to make that decision. Reading the first introductory chapter the author presents that our mind has actually made its choice even before our 'brain' knows. This means to say that in the blink of an eye our mind has all it wants. Unfortunately, there is not logical explanation for this action/reaction and hence most people when asked to explain their reason might end up with absurd ones.

An interesting read and pretty thought provoking. The example of the cops shooting in NY and Florida, the example on racism, millitary etc are pretty interesting. It opens up an unexplored area of human psychology.. at least for me its pretty unexplored :)

My Rating: 8/10
