For all the people making noise over Facebook well how many of them read the Terms and Conditions when they clicked I Agree?
For all the people worried about privacy where did the worry go when they were uploading loads of pictures?
For all the people worried about visible information did they ever Google up their name to see what all information is available via the numerous websites they have registered in?
For all the people worried about privacy what about all the information google has about the individual from the numerous applications that we use?
So why is Facebook the target why not all the websites?
Facebook the overly popular social networking site and the hub of Farmville seems to be the bad guy now. They seem to not have enough control over privacy? OR some say have overly complicated privacy controls? I believe apart from privacy there needs to be self restraint on what goes on the internet? I heard the controversy that Facebook never really deletes a picture even if you have deleted it from your profile. Ya sure! maybe its in there archive that they take frequently for numerous reasons. So now what? What was in your mind when you uploaded these files? And we only know about Facebook what about google? Recently its in the news that Google used personal photos that were uploaded by Europeans for their Google maps application. So there needs to be privacy concerns about google too?
As I was introduced to Facebook (which was pretty late) i was shocked to see the pictures and data shared by many of my college friends in the USA. I may have been comfortable with the internet but at some point there is a line which says too much. I generally like to be few steps behind that lakshman rekha. There are things i want to share with acquaintances, then there is stuff i want to share with close friends and then there is stuff i want to share with only close close close friends. Well there needs to be some responsibility in the individual to apart from just blaming the website.
Many new websites are coming up promising better than Facebook controls and better than Facebook networking. Is everyone going to just move on to these and upload stuff trusting them blindly? Is that what we have learnt from this story?
For me my privacy ends when i open up an account and start entering information using the online forms. It's upto the user to decide what needs to go where and yes there needs to be controls but you cannot use old chat logs from Mark Zuckerberg to paint him evil.

-- You have control over how your information is shared.
-- We do not share your personal information with people or services you don't want.
-- We do not give advertisers access to your personal information.
-- We do not and never will sell any of your information to anyone.
-- We will always keep Facebook a free service for everyone.
